Thanksgiving is known for many things. Primarily, it's an American day when we express our gratitude for our numerous American blessings by reminding each other that the FDA's recommended daily calorie intake is simply a recommendation. (Football somehow factors into this as well; please get back to us if you have details.)

As far as stuffing faces goes, Americans are some of the best face-stuffers around. For instance, the turducken -- a duck shoved inside a chicken shoved inside a turkey -- is now a Thanksgiving favorite. Though the origins of this dish are disputed, one thing is clear: Americans perfected this gastronomic monstrosity.

And so, it is in this spirit that we present a number of other excellent examples of Foods-Shoved-In-Other-Foods, some invented right here in the Adult Swim laboratory. While we may not have discovered the next turducken, we probably just made your upcoming Thanksgiving meal a whole lot more interesting.

Barownies

Ingredients:

  • Brownie mix
  • Candy bars

Directions:

Prepare brownie mix as normal. Put candy bars in. Bake as directed.

How often do you finish a delicious brownie and think to yourself, "Man, I could really go for a candy bar!" Conversely, do you ever polish off a candy bar and think, "A brownie sure would top me off!" Problem solved. For a real treat, cut up the barownies and then bake them inside an apple pie.

Hot Dog Squids

Ingredients:

  • Spaghetti
  • Hot dogs

Directions:

Cut hot dogs into circles. Pierce them with eight pieces of spaghetti. Boil until pasta is tender, yet firm. Serve.

We didn't come up with this one, but when we read about it, we had to try it. Not only are hot dogs and pasta two great tastes that taste great together, but hot dog squids keep the kids AND the demented old people entertained for an entire Thanksgiving meal.

Kick Your Asserole

Ingredients:

  • Do you eat it for breakfast? We put it in there.

Directions:

Fry up some bacon. Pour pancake mix over. Meanwhile, prepare a dozen scrambled eggs and sautee some onions and potatoes. Put the onions and potatoes in a baking dish. Cover with the eggs. Add cheese. Put bacon pancakes on top. Bake. Eat.

We tried to get as much breakfast as we could into a single dish, and we feel as though we succeeded. Additional, optional ingredients: maple syrup, orange juice, cantaloupe slices, oatmeal. Best served at a Thanksgiving brunch.

Inside-Out Spaghetti And Meatballs (AKA Inside-Out Maggots And S**t)

Ingredients:

  • One package spaghetti
  • Approx. 3 lbs. ground beef
  • One jar spaghetti sauce
  • Parmesan cheese

Directions:

Boil the spaghetti as normal. Meanwhile, prepare the ground beef by creating a large pancake of meat in a baking pan. (A circular pan is best.) When the spaghetti is ready, combine it with sauce and Parmesan cheese. Pour mixture onto beef pancake and cover with rest of beef. Top with additional sauce and/or cheese. Bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Slice and serve.

Don't let the disgusting looks of this dish fool you; it's actually quite delicious. Note how it looks like a gigantic meatball before you slice it -- kind of handsome, no? Refined? Unfortunately, after you slice it, it looks kind of like roadkill. Yum! Dig in!
