We reference Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" in this episode, and our well-read viewers all suppressed a laugh, tilted their heads back and nodded knowingly. Did you know that The Simpsons referenced "The Lottery" too? 14 years before we did? After some hasty research, we killed another episode where Early turns yellow from jaundice, then rides a monorail to Wingfield with Brusky the Clown.

Great music from Unknown Hinson, Shawn Coleman and Split Lip Rayfield. Kick-ass guitar solos from Brendan Small. Fire, blood, demons, music. Yeah. That one.

I am going to have to go with the pilot. It was a combination of the narration and the music that really set the tone for where this show was going. We must bring back Space Baby. Normally I am not a fan of pilots, but this one really worked.

I love the heavy ending of this one. And for some reason, people really respond to Herschel.

So many good ones. "Tuscaloosa Dumpling" comes to mind, partly because it's so fun to say. But I'll have to say "Wing Nut". It's got Dan Halen at his most depraved. "...Bowels bursting with bleu cheese. Now, sublime creature, defecate your own to go box!" Watching this is almost enough to make me go vegan.
