Sure, you could boil down the plot of Death Note to a disillusioned teen who knocks off criminals by writing their names in his killer notebook. But those who've been hooked from the beginning know the death-bringing journal's just window dressing to the main event: Light Yagami, the show's anonymous "Kira," versus L, the pale, crouching, über-sleuth trying to catch him. If Death Note hasn't already lodged its hooks into you, you might want to watch it before we spoil the best parts. The rest of you, point those shinigami eyes south for our first anime list ever.

  This tennis match between Light and L perfectly echoes their battle of wits. We're impressed they can have such intense dueling interior monologues while simultaneously playing a pretty good game.

  If this were Dragon Ball Z, we'd imagine Light and L's power levels would be totally off the charts by the end of this scene. And it would be AWESOME.
